How to register for an australia.gov.au account

Select Logon
Copy details from Medicare card into provided boxes, enter date of birth and password
Tick that I have read and agree to the terms and conditions checkbox
Select Logon
Answer two of your secret questions
Enter the suburb and password associated with the Medicare card
Select Submit
Select No - I do not have an australia.gov.au account
Select Yes - I would like to register for an australia.gov.au account
You have the option to use your existing secret questions by selecting the check box
Select Continue
Select continue if nothing happens within 10 seconds
Select the red Register button
Scroll down the page and agree to the terms and conditions
Select Yes button
Select Continue
Type in a password and
confirm the password

Password must be between 7 and 20 characters and contain both letters and numbers

Select Continue
Enter the answers to your secret questions.
If you have chosen not to copy the secret questions from your Medicare Australia account you will need to set up five new secret questions and answers
Select Continue
Please record your User ID and/or print this page and select the corresponding check box
Select Continue
The account linking is successful
Select Continue
The Welcome to Medicare Australia Online Services page is displayed.

What next

To access your Medicare Australia Online Services account simply go to the Medicare Australia website and select australia.gov.au before clicking logon.

Next enter your australia.gov.au User ID and password then select continue.

You can also access your linked Medicare Australia Online Services account via the australia.gov.au website.
