We are running a regionally focused and targeted communication campaign to promote Medicare electronic claiming to Medicare cardholders. If your practice is in one of the targeted areas, you will receive a letter to inform you about the messages we are delivering locally.

For more information about patient claiming through Medicare Online and Medicare Easyclaim call 1800 700 199 to talk to one of our Business Development Officers.

Mediguide 11th edition 2007

Mediguide is a handbook designed to help medical practitioners and practice staff understand the Medicare claiming system.

Mediguide is available to download as a complete document (below), and can also be viewed as web pages using the links in the navigation bar to the right.

Introduction

This is the eleventh edition of Medicare Australia’s flagship publication for doctors and practice staff, Mediguide.

Mediguide will give you a quick and easy guide to the Medicare claiming system and other health programs administered by Medicare Australia. It can also be used as a source of information in conjunction with the Medicare Benefits Schedule Book and Medicare Australia newsletters, Forum and Bulletin Board.

There are a number of initiatives currently under consideration that highlight the changing environment in which Medicare Australia is operating. With a focus on making it easy to deal with Medicare Australia, these initiatives will change the way doctors and patients interact with Medicare Australia in the future.

They include a range of online options in relation to Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. Medicare Australia introduced Medicare Easyclaim in 2007. Medicare Easyclaim is a new electronic Medicare claiming channel that allows medical practitioners and patients to lodge Medicare claims using the existing EFTPOS network. Bulk bill claims lodged using Medicare Easyclaim will be entirely paperless and your rebate will be paid into the practice’s nominated bank account, usually on the next working day.

Medicare Australia welcomes your feedback and suggestions via email to editor.mediguide@medicareaustralia.gov.auEmail
