Sonographers
From 1 November 2001, sonographers performing ultrasounds on behalf of medical practitioners must be accredited, by being suitably qualified, involved in a relevant and appropriate continuing professional development program, and listed on Medicare Australia's Register of Accredited Sonographers.
All assessment of a sonographer's competency is undertaken by the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR).
