Medicines Information to Consumers (MIC)

The Medicines Information to Consumers (MIC) program provides an incentive payment to encourage pharmacists to promote the quality use of medicines and assist consumers to make informed decisions.

From 1 December 2005, the incentive payments for providing consumer medicine information are included in the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and Repatriation Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (RPBS) dispensing fees, at the rate of 10 cents per subsidised paid prescription.

The Pharmacy Guild of AustraliaExternal link website provides further information on MIC and 'When to Provide Consumer Medicine Information'.
