Premium Free Dispensing Incentive (PFDI)

From 1 July 2010, a fee of $1.53 will be paid to approved suppliers for each substitutable brand dispensed where a premium does not apply. Approved hospital authorities located at a public hospital that has implemented pharmaceutical reforms —under Part B15, Schedule B of the National Health Care Agreement—are not eligible to receive this fee.

The amount of $1.53 will be indexed annually.

The PFDI is not payable for General Pharmaceutical Benefits dispensed where the Australian Government price is less than or equal to the general patient contribution.
