Online claiming for PBS—40 cent incentive payment
The online claiming for PBS incentive payment changed on 30 June 2010 for approved suppliers
From 30 June 2010, the online claiming incentive ceased for community pharmacies and dispensing doctors. From 1 July 2010, the Online Claiming for PBS—40 cent incentive payment will only be paid for:
- PBS and RPBS (including Highly Specialised Drugs (HSD)) prescriptions processed through approved public hospitals participating in the Pharmaceutical Reforms, claimed through online claiming for PBS
- HSD prescriptions (PBS and RPBS) processed through approved public hospitals not participating in the Pharmaceutical Reforms, claimed through online claiming for PBS.
Under the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement, Medicare Australia will automate payments for the Online Claiming Incentive for approved public hospitals from 1 July 2011. The Online Claiming Incentive payment will remain at $0.40 per eligible prescription claimed via online claiming for PBS.
PBS Payment Advice statements will change to reflect information about incentive payments, only if the approved public hospital has received a payment.
PBS Reconciliation statements will also only display information regarding incentive payments if the approved hospital has received one (or more) incentive payments.
