 Approval of medical practitioners to supply pharmaceutical benefits

A medical practitioner may be granted approval to supply pharmaceutical benefits in an area in which an approved pharmacist is unable to supply a convenient and efficient pharmaceutical service.

To apply for this type of approval complete the following application form:

 Medicine export declaration

The Medicine export declaration form can be used when a person taking or sending medicine overseas is unable to get a letter from their doctor, or when they are taking or sending non prescription medicine.

Prescription Shopping Information Service

If you suspect a patient of seeking to obtain medicine in excess of medical need, you can call Medicare Australia’s Prescription Shopping Information Service. First you need to register - complete and sign the registration form [PDF, 67Kb]PDF reader required and fax it to (02) 6124 7820.
