Compliance Audit Guidelines
Medicare Australia is developing Audit Guidelines to support health professionals to respond to compliance audits. These guidelines will
- give examples of the types of documents that health professionals can provide to substantiate claims they have made
- assist in making audits a quick and straightforward process.
Medicare Australia has established a Compliance Working Group (CWG), comprised of members from the Australian Medical Association, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Australian General Practitioner Network, Australian Association of Practice Managers, and the Rural Doctors Association of Australia. Medicare Australia is working together with the CWG to produce the guidelines. Once released, the Audit Guidelines will be available on our website and sent to health professionals at the time of an audit. The guidelines are expected to be released in July 2010.
