Glossary of terms and acronyms
The following aged care terms and acronyms are often referred to when using Aged Care Online Claiming.

| ADL | Activities of daily living domain. |

| BEH | Behavioural supplement domain |
| BP | Being processed—an event has been received and validated within the Aged Care Online Claiming system. The event will then be included in the next transfer to the payment system/s overnight. |
| CBHS | Community Bulk Hours of Service. |
| CDP | Community Departure web form. Allows the date a care recipient ceases receiving community care to be registered. |
| CEN | Community Entry web form. Allows the entry to community care for a care recipient to be registered. |
| CHC | Complex health care domain. |
| CHS | Community Hours of Service web form. Used only to amend the hours of service provided to the care recipient during the month and if the hours of service changed from the original entry record. |
| CLE | Community Leave web form. Allows the date a care recipient started a period of leave, if they have already returned to care and the end date of the leave to be registered. |
| CLO | Community Location web form. Allows changes in location for care recipients to be registered. |
| CSD | Cornell scale for depression. |
| DH | Default high—default payment amount for a care recipient with a high ACAT assessment where no ACFI appraisal has been received and the payment is being made within the grace period. |
| DHS | Department of Human Services. |
| DL | Default low—default payment for a care recipient who has been classified at the interim low level classification (i.e. care recipient has a low ACAT assessment and a high ACFI). |
| DoHA | Department of Health and Ageing. The Department of Health and Ageing on behalf of the Australian Government is responsible for the Aged Care policy and administration, whereas the Department of Human Services is responsible for the Aged Care payments. |

Rejected—an event has been transferred to the payment system/s but will not be used to assess claims for payment. Important: rejected events may need a new event to be transmitted to make sure accurate and up to date information is used to assess claims for payment. |

| ROX | Residential Oxygen End date web form. Allows the end date of oxygen for a care recipient to be registered. |
| S8 | Indication of a care recipient’s level of care under the RCS consisting of S1–S4 for high care and S5–S8 for low care. |

Terms

| ACFI category |
The level of care a care recipient needs determined by the ACFI application for classification. The category is made up of a level of nil, low, medium or high (N, L, M or H) for each of the three ACFI domains (e.g. HLM, NNN or NMN). This ACFI category then determines the level of payment a service receives for the care recipient. |
| Admission | Also referred to as an entry. |
| Aged Care Online Claiming | Aged Care Online Claiming allows the aged care sector to electronically lodge forms and claim directly with Human Services. |
| Aged Care approved provider statement | The provider statement is a signed statement by providers with services not registered for Aged Care Online Claiming. It advises the appropriate business and security controls are in place to ensure all Aged Care forms, claims and other relevant documentation transmitted to Human Services to claim Commonwealth Aged Care subsidies are appropriately authorised by the approved provider. |
| Business Development Officer (BDO) | Human Services officer whose primary task is to assist providers get started with online claiming. |
| Business to Business (B2B) | Seamless communication channel to transmit data electronically to Human Services for Aged Care Online Claiming. |
| Category | The classification level a care recipient has been classified at under Part 24 of the Aged Care Act 1997. |
| Client | Also referred to as care recipient or resident. |
| Data synchronisation | The process of aligning the data (e.g. care recipient’s name, date of birth) held within a service’s internal applications and Human Services Aged Care payment systems. |

| Electronic Aged Care Client Record (eACCR) | An Aged Care Client Record (ACCR) that has been transmitted to Human Services using integrated software. |
| Event | An electronic collection of data that describes a business activity that has occurred in an aged care service. An event provides an alternative to sending paper based aged care form information to Human Services for processing in the Aged Care payment system/s. For example, the residential entry event would be transmitted through Aged Care Online Claiming (using one of the channels) to enter a care recipient into a service instead of using the paper based Residential Entry Record. |
| File Upload | Online communication channel used to transmit data electronically to Human Services for Aged Care Online Claiming. This channel involves events being batched and loaded through a secure page of the Aged Care Online Claiming website. |
| Individual certificate | PKI certificate issued by Human Services IT Security, which acts as an electronic signature for an individual. This certificate is currently used to sign events where required. |
| Interim low level classification | The level a care recipient is classified at where they have a high new admission ACFI limited to a specified payment level by a low ACAT. |
| Minor customer ID | Identification allocated to the transmission site by the approved software vendor. |
| Notice of Integration (NOI) | A document issued by Human Services to show that a specific version of a third party software application has been tested for use with Aged Care Online Claiming. |
| Pass Phrase | A sequence of words or other text used to control access to a computer system, program or data. A pass phrase is similar to a password in usage, but it is generally longer for added security. Pass phrases are used to control both access to and operation of cryptographic programs and systems. |
| Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) | PKI arrangements allow computer users to be authenticated to each other, and to use the public key information in their public key certificates to encrypt messages to each other. |
| RCS saved category | The RCS category a grand parented care recipient will be paid at rather than the ACFI category. |
| Shell token | A small USB device containing a microprocessor that can be used for authentication and access control. Shell tokens are used as part of the implementation of PKI security at Human Services. A shell token can be used at a service to digitally sign transmissions to Human Services. |
| Site certificate | PKI certificate issued by Human Services IT security which identifies a site and is used by an organisation to securely transmit data to Medicare Australia. |
| Software vendor | A software vendor is an entity that supplies a software product that can be used to create electronic claim files. |
| Web Forms | A stand-alone online claiming channel that uses the Aged Care Online Claiming website to transmit claim related data to Human Services. Services using this channel do not need specially developed software. |
