Other programs
Medicare Australia is well known for its universal programs such as Medicare, Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) and the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR).
However Medicare Australia also administers a number of programs outside that spectrum. These programs include:
- General Practice Immunisation Incentives scheme;
- Practice Incentives Program;
- Rural Retention Program

- Federal Government 30% rebate on health insurance;
- Program Review – Compliance and Education;
- Compensation Recovery;
- Information Management;
- Family Assistance Office in partnership with Centrelink and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs; and
- Claims processing and payments for the Department of Veterans' Affairs (the Veterans' Treatment Accounts), the Office of Hearing Services and the Health Department of Western Australia.
