Caretaker Arrangements

On 19 July 2010 the Australian Government assumed a caretaker role, with an election to be held on 21 August 2010.

Centrelink offices have recently combined efforts with community, government and non-government organisations in the local region to bring a more tailored approach to job seekers and other individuals requiring assistance. The Health Legislation amendment (Midwives and Nurse Practitioners) Bill 2009 has now been passed allowing nurse practitioners and midwives to access Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS) items and prescribe medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) from 1 November 2010.
